Our Story

written by Rob

The second Elizabeth walked down the driveway on a golden Florida day in December, my life felt transformed. By the time we had skated at the ice rink and had talked up a storm all day, I figured she was so amazing she clearly must have a significant other already. When I discovered my error, I immediately arranged a trip to Universal Islands of Adventure (we'd talked about both having annual passes while skating) and then took her to dinner at Hard Rock Cafe (we'd identified a shared interest in classic metal while skating too). Not wanting her to leave so soon, I gave her a tour of UCF. Our one date spanned two days by going past midnight, but by the end of it we were boyfriend and girlfriend and have been equally inseparable since.

Of course, I was already interested in marrying Elizabeth, and in an ideal world our big day would have come long before now. Our combined practicality put a house before even an engagement ring. But on September 22nd, 2017, I conspired with Groomsman Dennis and Chrisanne Frye (our dear friends) to propose to Elizabeth in front of the waterfall at Epcot's Norway pavilion. The day was perfect. The sunlight was bright, and it was as if all the other guests had cleared away in anticipation of this moment. I knelt down, ring in hand, and asked Elizabeth to be my wife. Elizabeth accepted, and the world could finally know what we had known in our hearts all along- that we are meant to be each others' forever. While the Ditmars clan will recognize some significance from Norway itself, my main motivation came from our shared love of the parks and of Disney's Frozen.

Elizabeth and I have been together for over ten years and engaged for five of those years. Having had to reschedule our wedding three times, we are exceptionally excited to celebrate our marriage with everyone this December!
